First Enrollment Cormet Post Approval Study

April 21, 2008
Corin UK

Dr. Stefan Kreuzer located in Houston Texas, one of the four selected surgeons for the Cormet Post Approval study, implanted the first study patient on April 21, 2008.

As one of the conditions for FDA approval of the Cormet Hip Resurfacing System (July 3, 2007) in the USA, a clinical study has been designed to enroll 160 patients with surgeons trained via the Stryker training program. Four surgeons have been selected based upon experience with hip resurfacing and location or type of practice setting - 2 with little previous experience with hip resurfacing and 2 with more experience, 2 practicing at community based hospitals and 2 at teaching hospitals.

Dr. Kreuzer graduated from medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1995. He went on to do his orthopedic residency at Galveston and completed a Fellowship in Joint Reconstruction at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001. He has six publications with several appearing in peer review journals, and he now serves on faculty for the Stryker Cormet Surgeon Training Program. Dr. Kreuzer said following the surgery for the first study patient, "Surgery went great and we are very excited to be part of this research effort." Elizabeth Hernandez, Clinical Research Coordinator and Dr. Suneel Kumar, Research Associate, will provide research staff support for Dr. Kreuzer for the Cormet clinical study.

We welcome Dr. Kreuzer and his team to the Corin clinical research effort and look forward to the study results.
